The Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) course introduces first-year B.Ed. students to the fundamental principles of early childhood education and the importance of holistic development in young children. The course focuses on understanding the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children from birth to early primary years.
Students will learn about the characteristics of young learners and the role of caregivers and teachers in supporting children’s growth and learning. The course also explores child-centered teaching approaches, play-based learning, and the creation of safe and supportive learning environments for young children.
In addition, the course emphasizes the importance of family involvement, health, nutrition, and protection in early childhood development. Students will gain basic knowledge and practical understanding of how early childhood education contributes to lifelong learning and overall development.
